Friday morning we brought David home from the hospital. With his eyes wide open as we left the hospital he was looking around trying to make sense of the world around him. We had several hours of alone time with him before our baby nurse arrived so the two of us kept staring at him in awe of our creation. We couldn’t believe the smiles we’ve been getting from him. Our hearts just melted. At only a few days old he was holding his head up at times much to our amazement.
Throughout the weekend, friends and family stopped by to see the ‘little man’ who has spent his first few days of life eating, sleeping and pooping like all new babies. He even christened Darren by peeing all over him. Yesterday, was David’s first doctor’s visit and he was a true champ. He only cried when the doctor was touching his head but for most the exam it seemed like he was enjoying himself. I was amazed. The little guy is doing great. He has gained some weight putting him at 7lbs 15oz now which is the 50th percentile for weight and measuring at 19.5 inches he’s in the 25th percentile for height. I hope he’s as good at his next visit as he was for this one.
The rest of the time he’s been spoiled by both sets of grandparents who have come by almost every day to spend time with their little guy. We’ve started to put together the nursery and get his room ready for when the nurse leaves. Having a baby nurse is definitely a must in my opinion. My recovery has been progressing but I certainly took a beating from the delivery and appreciate all the help, education and support she is providing.
More updates to come…..
