Yesterday beloved Washington bureau news chief and Meet the Press moderator, Tim Russert died. For anyone who is a loyal NBC news and Today Show viewer like me, knows what a loss his death is. I always enjoyed watching Tim deliver his political segments which were traditionally balanced and fair, looking at situations from all angles. He made politics interesting, explaining the complexities of elections and simplifying the political arena in Washington for the average American. He was warm and welcoming and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him on the mornings he appeared on the Today Show or on the eve of an election night.
Among the many tributes and retrospectives on Tim’s life, this morning, Matt Laurer is hosting the Today Show on a Saturday, paying honor to a friend and colleague of his and all loyal viewers. Watching this tribute shows so much why this man was a success. He had passion and devotion for his career but also for his family and friends. As we approach this November’s presidential election, viewers will undoubtedly miss his presence on election night and at all the events leading up to then. Watching him was a tradition, for me anyway.
