Last night Darren and I braved the snow and ventured out to Santa Fe, Darren’s favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in Tarrytown. After an incredibly disappointing meal at Casa Maya in Scarsdale recently we were really hoping that Santa Fe was still going strong. Lucky for us, they were! The restaurant which has a traditional Mexican feel was fairly crowded given the kind of night it was. The service was excellent and so was the food. We started with sangria and chips with fresh guacamole to munch on. The chips were crisp and not greasy at all. A generous portion of regular salsa and a special corn salsa was also served so we were in heaven. We’ve been craving tacos so we ordered the Taco Basket for two. It was really good….we had a great flavorful mixture of ground beef, chicken, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, onion and a mix of cheeses. They served both hard shells and soft tortillas so we could mix it up a bit. Mexican rice came on the side and was also tasty. We were both very happy with our meal and next time we are craving a little something from south of the border we will drive the extra few minutes to Tarrytown as it was worth the effort.
