The famous cupcake maker, Magnolia Bakery, opened its doors Saturday on the Upper West Side.  Since their Bleeker Street location’s early rise to fame thanks to Sex and the City, crowds have been gathering to sample the yummy treats that are baked up fresh every day.  I am a huge cupcake fan and am thrilled if I manage to grab one from Magnolia every now and again.   According to some local residents, lines at their new Columbus Avenue location were down the street since before the store opened and they were completely sold out by early evening when customers had to be turned away and told to come back the next day.  I am sure the big crowds will be around for awhile as this new shop settles into its new neighborhood.  Next time I am in the area, I am sure I will stop in for a pink frosted cupcake which is my favorite!  For those of you that live on the UWS – I am so jealous!
