Flu 1, Sherri 0

After a great weekend of celebrating my father in-law’s birthday and watching the Giants beat Dallas, I thought the week was off to a great start.  Little did I know, I was 24 hours away from coming down with the flu.  Since late Monday night, I’ve been bed-ridden with a fever, body aches, chills and a dry cough.  I’ve been sleeping round the clock battling an up and down fever and feeling downright lousy.  Darren has been an amazing husband bringing me juice, tea, soup and dayquil to help weather this horrendous virus.

For the few waking hours a day I have, I have to say television has been a major disappointment.  I had no idea that the Today Show is now 4 hours long – wow, that’s a lot of Today!  Soap operas are still the same.  I haven’t really tuned into these shows since high school, but I was amazed to see so many of the same characters.  Daytime TV is still rehashing the same storylines just with new characters or in some case the same characters.  I was a huge fan of As The World Turns growing up and tuning in yesterday there were many of the same characters some who look better today than they did back when I was watching.  Lots of plastic surgery and face lifts for sure.  The cable networks aren’t exactly contributing much to the quality of daytime tv either.  I caught a few reality tv shows on VH-1 yesterday.  The first is Scott Baio is 46….& Pregnant and the other was Rock of Love.   Neither of which I was impressed by but of course, there is nothing else really to watch so I am sure I will be tuning in again today.

There is not much I can do but rest, drink liquids and try to shake off this awful virus.  It’s going to take several days and is definitely on track to ruin our ski weekend in Vermont but we are taking it day by day.  A change of scenery would be a welcome distraction even if its just going from one bed to another.  I am at the mercy of this flu virus and whatever it has in store for me, I will deal with.  One lesson though, next year, its time for the flu shot!

Scott Baio … Do you remember how we worshipped him in 1st grade? I don’t know what is worse. The fact that he turned out to be a total schmuck or that he is so OLD. Regardless, his show and Rock of Love are car accidents that I can’t help watching. ~ shaz
