It’s official….Darren and I tied the knot Saturday night! This weekend was a true celebration of our love for each other, the unifying of our two families and the beginning of an incredible life together. It was such an amazing weekend, one that we will remember for a lifetime.
The festivities began Friday night with a wonderful rehearsal/out of town guest dinner at Chef Antonio in Mamaroneck. The night was filled with special friends and family, great food, some fantastic speeches (thanks Baker and my new ‘Dad’) and a wonderful beginning to the weekend.
Saturday was the day we had been planning for the past seven months. It was truly amazing to see how it all came together and how flawless everything was. Darren and the guys started off the day with a round of golf while I spent the day with my ladies at the hotel enjoying a relaxing lunch followed by hair and make-up and few sneak peeks as we watched the ballroom come alive in preparation for the evening celebration. The hours went by in a flash and the next thing I knew my make-up was on, my hair was done and I was stepping into my dress. After taking many pictures of getting ready with my bridal party, we were off to meet up with guys and for Darren to see me for the first time in my wedding dress. When I arrived downstairs, all our families were there with Darren waiting for my arrival. It was truly a magical moment when we saw each other. Words cannot describe how I felt at that moment.
It is so hard to summarize the evening but the highlights that stand out most to me were signing the ketubah and the special moments we spent with both sets of parents, walking down the aisle and seeing Darren’s huge smile as I made my way toward him, the incredibly beautiful and personal touches of our ceremony led by Cantor Mo, our first dance to Crush by Dave Matthews Band, the hora and going up in the chair, dancing with my Dad to “You are the Sunshine of My Life”, doing the twist with Darren’s friends, the great speeches by best man Kenny and maid of honor, Shari, the mezinke dance crowning my parents for having their last child married and the special tribute and first dance with my new father, Edwin, who welcomed me to the dance floor to the song “Sherri Baby”.
The weekend long celebration finished this morning with a great brunch and an official send off. It was an amazing weekend, one that is so difficult to describe in words but one that will remain in our hearts a lifetime. Thank you to everyone for celebrating our marriage with us and for making this the most amazing day of our lives!!!!!
