Back in the Big Apple after 48 hours in the ‘other city that doesn’t sleep’. Arriving on Friday afternoon, we took Vegas by storm. We checked into THEhotel, grabbed a burger and a beer at the Burger Bar and then hit the first of two DMB shows within hours of our arrival. No sleep for the weary, we were at the pool early Sat morning, desparate to get rid of our pale winter skin. After a few hours in the sun, a walk around the art galleries checking out the Todd Goldman collection, we were off to MGM again for the second and final DMB concert of the weekend. Contrary to popular belief, we exercised self-control and did not gamble – not even one quarter in a slot machine! Talk about restraint!!!!
Overall, the trip was fantastic, the concerts were great, and it was the perfect break from our busy schedules planning our wedding and upcoming move. I thought Friday’s show was better than Saturday’s, as it had more energy. Saturday night’s set list was more mellow despite coming out strong with the popular ‘Crash Into Me’. The highlight of Friday night’s show came 2/3 of the way through when they played ‘Crush’. Stayed tuned this summer to find out why I was excited to hear it……
A word of caution though if you are heading out to Vegas now thru June, and staying at Mandalay Bay (aka to me & my friends as ‘The Bay”), THEhotel shares their pool and main grounds, much of which is under significant renovation. If you want some of that Vegas sun, my advice is to get out there early unless you want to sit on the hot sand or the concrete with only your towel.
